Better Care Through the Children's Autism Center
We're excited to share the Children's Autism Center, formerly Child's Play Plus. Our experienced team provides broader access, trusted resources, and outstanding ABA therapy tailored to your child's unique needs. In March 2024, the Children's Autism Center assumed operations of Child's Play Plus.

To the families we serve, Child's Play represents the highest standard of science-driven, patient-first care. But that alone isn't enough. We never stop pushing and keep evolving, because yesterday's standard won't meet tomorrow's needs. That's why collaborating with other organizations, contributing to their work, and earning their recognition is central to how we grow. From accreditation by field-specific evaluating bodies to hands-on partnerships with respected universities and early adoption of emerging care standards, Child's Play is committed to staying at the leading edge.

Council for Autism Service Providers (CASP)
Child's Play is one of over 200 organizations in the Council for Autism Service Providers (CASP), a nonprofit association of providers held to rigorous ethical practice standards when serving people with autism spectrum disorders. Child's Play, the ABA field, and CASP honor the individuality and uniqueness of every person with autism, empowering them to express themselves effectively while building the varied skills they need to function at their best. ABA therapy is the most significant autism treatment developed to date, and through CASP membership Child's Play can collaborate with fellow organizations to advance that progress and ethically develop new strategies. Continued evolution is essential so every patient with autism and their family can obtain the services they deserve.

BACB Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Standard
Child's Play adopted the RBT credential early, back in 2015. Although few insurance payers currently require the credential for technician-level staff, we built the process into our initial hire training more than three years ago. Every Child's Play technician, including entry-level staff, must be RBT certified to keep their position after 90 days. An RBT is a paraprofessional who works under the close, ongoing supervision of an authorized RBT Supervisor, who is accountable for the RBT's work. This calls for intensive direct supervision by that professional. Ongoing supervision exists to strengthen and maintain the RBT's behavior-analytic, professional, and ethical skills and to support high-quality service delivery to clients. Each RBT must receive ongoing supervision for at least 5% of the hours spent providing behavior-analytic services each month. While some practices are only now adopting or exploring RBT certification for their staff, we have re-certified our interventionists many times over. Better care is just the beginning.
Learn About the RBT CredentialPurdue University Global Partnership
Child's Play is a partnered practicum site for Purdue University Global's undergraduate and graduate programs in Clinical Psychology – Applied Behavior Analysis. Through this strengthened partnership, Purdue trusts Child's Play to place its students, recognizing us as a premier setting for well-rounded exposure and teaching experience within their clinical ABA requirements. Child's Play offers students the chance to work with clients across the entire spectrum, including severe aggression and self-harm — something no other regional clinical practice can claim for its clinical students. As an added benefit of the partnership, Child's Play employees enjoy discounted tuition.
Huntington University Doctoral Student Pediatric Rotation
Every semester our clinics welcome pediatric rotation clinical students from Huntington University's doctoral program in occupational therapy (OTD), who complete projects and fulfill additional program requirements. The OTD program at Huntington University is fully accredited and has an alumni network contributing to the occupational therapy field. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Child's Play's influence reaches beyond treatment. Our co-owners Becki Fulcher and Jason Shaw are founding members of InPEAT, a statewide group of direct ABA providers working together to improve insurer relations and the methods used to authorize or deny services for children. Child's Play Plus is one of only two providers in Northeast Indiana that has chosen to support this effort financially and with time. Jason serves as President alongside the Board of Directors, where he continues to advance the group's awareness and goals. InPEAT's Board of Directors is represented in and frequently meets with other groups working on issues ranging from licensure of Behavior Analysts in Indiana to Indiana Medicaid and commercially available insurance. Hope — hope is the word that best captures what Child's Play has given not just our son, but our entire family. A year ago, things felt fairly hopeless. It has been so uplifting to watch his progress in independence, self-care, independent living skills, and emotional control. Choosing Child's Play is a decision we will never regret. — Caregiver Review, Online
When you are looking for a school or center for a child with autism, resources are limited if a typical school environment does not work for your child. We found Child's Play Autism Center and immediately loved the one-on-one interaction offered to our daughter. She not only receives one-on-one ABA therapy in her own private therapy room, she also has chances to interact with other students. There are so many areas for her to play and learn — a music area, pretend play area, gross motor area, sensory area, kitchen area, and much more. She gets to shop at the grocery store to practice social behaviors and takes trips to the mall. She also goes out to lunch to work on social and public goals. The entire staff is amazing and communicates constantly about how my daughter is doing. They are all so supportive! My daughter has excelled greatly since starting at Child's Play Autism Center! I am so thankful they are here in Ft. Wayne! — Caregiver Review, Online
As a parent, it is hard to watch your child struggle without progress in typical developmental areas such as verbal, social, emotional, and academic skills. As a family, we felt deep frustration and did not know where to turn for help. Thankfully, you made a commitment to our community to provide ABA therapy services. Child's Play has given us a way to address all of our son's issues through a program that is comprehensive and customized. Other programs we used only address speech during the allotted speech time. At Child's Play Autism Center, they build a unique plan for each individual child and work on missing skills with a precise, calculated strategy, so your child can reach multiple goals by completing a single task. Beyond the therapeutic processes, the staff genuinely care about my child and his progress. ABA therapy has been a blessing in our life. We have a long way to go, but every week we see some kind of progress in speech or behavior. Child's Play is making a difference for our whole family for the better.
